NWC Enables Many CCC Students to Finish Their Education at Its Santa Ana Campus
WEST COVINA, Calif.—After 15 years of serving the Orange County area, Career College of California (CCC) closed its doors on January 28, 2016, citing financial challenges. In the wake of the closure, North-West College leadership began efforts to assist displaced CCC students, determining whether it would be possible for them to complete their education at NWC’s Santa Ana Campus, just 10 minutes from CCC.
The two institutions reached a transfer agreement, allowing every student who was enrolled in either the Medical Assistant or the Medical Front Office with Billing & Coding programs at Career College of California to transfer to North-West College’s Medical Assistant or Medical Insurance Biller & Coder programs with no additional charges. CCC shared the details of the agreement on their website, careercalifornia.edu, explaining that North-West College also pledged to maximize each student’s transfer credit for classes already completed.
“We are glad to be able help these individuals previously enrolled at Career College of California by enabling them to transfer to North-West College and finish their studies,” North-West College Santa Ana Campus Director Rick Sylstra said.
For those interested in transferring, a member of the North-West College Team can evaluate their transcripts and help them navigate the transfer process. More than 40 students have already met with North-West College Team Members to complete this evaluation, with many more underway.
“This is yet another example of how North-West College is living out its everyday mission to ‘train students in short-term programs for gainful employment,’” Sylstra added. “We look forward to seeing the success of these students who otherwise might not have been able to graduate and begin a rewarding career in the health care field.”
