The Founding of North-West College
North-West College (NWC) was founded in 1966 by Marsha Fuerst. Mrs. Fuerst's family has been involved in the allied health field since the early 1950's. North-West College continues to be owned and operated by Mrs. Fuerst's son Mitchell Fuerst. The Fuersts' passion for career education and their desire to provide high quality, relevant training is one of the guiding principles of the College.
History and Educational Philosophy
North-West College in West Covina opened its doors on October 10, 1966 to 43 students in two classes, and then added the Pomona campus in 1971. In 1980, the Pasadena Campus began serving the West San Gabriel Valley and the campus in Glendale followed in 1982. In 2004, NWC launched the Riverside Campus and offered many programs previously unavailable to North-West students. In January of 2014 NWC again expanded to new communities with the opening of campuses in Long Beach and Santa Ana to serve students in Orange County and Coastal Southern California. This wide range of locations provides access to many students wishing to attend this well-established educational institution. To date, the College boasts more than 45,000 graduates, who used their career training to support themselves and their families. Many have used the training they received as a springboard into successful careers in other fields. The College is now training second and third generations of North-West College graduates.
Acquisition of Glendale Career College and Nevada Career Institute
On April 15th 2008, GCC and NCI were acquired by NWC, to better serve students eager to join the ranks of our educational institution in the Glendale CA and Las Vegas communities. This wide range of locations provides access to many students who wish to pursue successful careers in allied health.
Success Education Colleges
In 2010, Success Education Colleges (SEC) was formed to be the holding company for the College's three Brands (North-West College, Glendale Career College and Nevada Career Institute). The home office, located in West Covina, CA, was created to be the Campus Support Center for our system of nine campuses.
Our College's mission is to prepare students in short term programs for gainful employment. To accomplish this, we provide a professional faculty, well-qualified administrators, and a top-notch support staff. Facilities are well equipped, sanitary, and nicely decorated to keep the atmosphere vibrant, friendly, and warm. The quality of education is the highest priority at the College. Students are accepted on their ability to benefit regardless of race, color, or creed.
